H. Grant Perry
Founder and Principal
Grant Perry, ChFC, (Chartered Financial Consultant™) is the founder and principal of Pinehurst Capital Inc., based in Pinehurst, North Carolina. He is a licensed insurance producer in North Carolina. Grant has been cited in numerous industry publications for his knowledge on retirement planning, including the Carolina Business Journal. He has lectured on the topics of business and finance at Methodist University’s Center for Entrepreneurship & Business Succession Financial Network and was the first finance columnist for Up & Coming magazine.
Grant and his team of professionals focus on creating innovative tax and investment strategies to help his clients “Live Well” during their retirement years. This may include significant tax reduction on retirement assets, leaving more money available for his clients’ enjoyment. It might also include income optimization strategies, which help preserve your income while limiting your tax liability.
In addition to his financial advisory practice in Moore County, Grant has created three proprietary and trademarked systems for identifying fees in mutual funds and variable annuities, which is currently not required for investor disclosure by the SEC. These fees can be significant, and Grant believes this is important for investors to know.
Born and raised in Cumberland County, Grant is a 24 year resident of Moore County and resides in the Village of Pinehurst. He is an avid sportsman and is the founder of The Sandhills Sporting Society™, an organization of fellow golfers and sporting enthusiasts that is open to men and women alike. Grant is a member of Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst, North Carolina, and serves in the Finance Ministry.
James “Jim” Musick
Jim currently holds the position of General Manager for Pinehurst Capital. His objective is to ensure that company operations are maintained to benefit the needs of our clients to the highest level. Jim attended the University of Kentucky earning a BA in Business Administration. His first opportunity came with Daniel International Corporation (now Fluor Corporation®), a leading engineering and construction company, then located in Greenville, SC. Rising in the ranks to become Vice President of West Coast operations in Irvine, CA with Fluor Corporation®, Jim elected to take a different turn in life. He purchased a golf and country club in Florida and became the Owner/General Manager of this private country club for over 15 years.
Recently relocating and now calling Pinehurst home with his wife Katherine, and yes the Katherine below is Jim’s wife who speaks of their girls and the “boys”. Jim also has a daughter, LeAnne, who owns and operates her own dance studio and a granddaughter, Jada.
We are extremely excited about joining the Pinehurst Capital team, being involved in the community, and getting to know the existing clients as well as meeting new ones.
Joseph “Joe” Swayne Jr.
Client Relations Specialist
Joe is the Client Relations Specialist at Pinehurst Capital. He handles all client requests and resolutions as well as servicing our clients’ investment accounts. Joe received his Associate of Arts in Accounting from Liberty University®. Joe has the honor of being a member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars for excelling in his college education. He has extremely high expectations of himself and strives on his attention to detail to ensure that all projects are accomplished correctly.
Originally from Wilmington, Delaware, Joe now calls call Pinehurst North Carolina his home. In 2010, Joe met his wife Meagan while singing karaoke at a local gathering. It was love at first song and six months later they were married. He is now the proud father of Mathew, 13, Hannah, 12, Autumn, 9 and their dog Lily.
Joe and his family are members of Faith Baptist Church, where he serves as the bass guitarist on the Praise Team, sings in the choir, leads youth activities, and speaks to the congregation on a monthly basis. He enjoys a variety of music, movies, sports (football being his favorite), and going to the mountains and the beach with his family.
Cynthia is the Marketing Coordinator at Pinehurst Capital. Her job entails the overall strategic marketing direction, brand development, and client experience for the organization. A fifth generation Californian, she earned her BA in Business Management from Cal State Fullerton. Cynthia’s first job was at Disneyland® which set the basis for her many years in customer service. Guided by her servant’s heart and over 20 years of management, media buying, marketing, and event planning experience in various industries, she is looking forward to implementing her knowledge at Pinehurst Capital.
Recently relocated to the area, she is now calling Southern Pines, NC her home. Cynthia and her husband Paul have been married since 2004. Proud military parents, their son Brooks is a Fire Crash Rescue firefighter in the United States Air Force. Cynthia has four horses, Apollo, Milton, Giorgio, and Sunshine, and loves to ride and spend time outside getting dirty with them. Their other four-footed child is Molly, a mini-hound dog, affectionately called Booger. Cynthia also enjoys reading, watching old movies, chocolate, and wine.
Howard earned a BSBA from George Mason University and an MBA from Virginia Tech. His concentrations included operations research, accounting and finance. His work experience includes 30 years at IBM and three years at H&R Block. He has owned his own tax preparation business for the past eight years. He is an IRS Registered Tax Return Preparer.
Howard was born in California, raised in New Jersey and now resides in Southern Pines, NC. An Air Force veteran, he started a career with IBM as a field service engineer in NJ. As his career progressed in engineering and management, he continued to move further south to pursue his quest for a warmer climate. His last IBM assignment in Research Triangle Park as a semiconductor test engineer provided an introduction to the golfing mecca of Pinehurst where he moved after his retirement in 1999. Free to pursue his love of golf, he met and married his wife Meridith and subsequently moved from Pinehurst to Southern Pines.
